Icon redesign x Google Sprint
BACKGROUND
Our company app Colorgy had an old icon. It represents bookselling because at the begin our business model based on sell books to students. But now we change our whole product to help students import their school timetable. We really need a new icon design to represent our product.
The icon is a very important thing to our team because it's not only about our product but also a vision we wanted to deliver to our user. It's also a very good opportunity to let our team understand that user experience is not only designer’s business, everyone needs to get involved it. I suggest that we can use google sprint as a method to create our new icon.
RESPONSIBILITY

PROCESS
Monday
-defined our problem (we want to make an icon that can communicate with our user and can also represent who we are.)
-Discuss our company's vision and our long-term goal.
Tuesday
-We find some good icon idea and shared with each other.

Wednesday
-everybody give me their masterpiece (include our developers ! They actually doing very great!) and after that we run a heat map vote. The interesting thing is our idea started to mix and exchanged to a new idea that we all love.
Thursday
I and our CEO started to design a process that can help us make sure our user will not only get connected with our new icon but also be inspired by our vision.
-
We faked an App Store page and tell our user about this product’s feature. After that, we let them choose which one would be the perfect match for the product we descriptive.

We tell our user every story that each icon represent and to see which one they’ll feel most inspired.
Friday
Last but also the most important day.
-we invite five our target user to run user testing
-developers gather together at the other room write down keyword notes while I was interviewing our user.

RESULT
The result is very successful. Our user like our new icon and so do our team. The most important thing is our team get closer and the icon’s origin idea is not even come from a designer.
P.s We also decided to change our graphic user interface style. I collect six different UI trend styles college student might like and let them choose one of it. After that base on top three styles they choose, I designed three UI. We let our super user group vote for which they like the most and here comes our final UI design.
